Our Verdict

Hansol 910A

Hansol Europe Ltd is part of the Hansol Corporation, which has it's fingers, it seems, in a lot of different pies. Hansol's 19" offering is the 910A, with a decent specification for a mind blowing price, which on the surface would get any consumer gasping for fresh air. Hansol certainly knows how to provide outstanding value for money without compromising on quality and service. The monitor supplied comes standard with a Flatter Squarer Tube (FST), as opposed to curved shadow-mask monitors, which suffer the negative effects of reflection on the surface of the tube. FST technology gives a better focus, less image distortion and a reduction in the negative effects of reflection, and sports a 0.26mm dot pitch and is relatively compact in both height and width, but still retains a diagonal viewable image of 18". The monitor handled our test resolution of 1280 x 1024 at a refresh rate of 75Hz, not our standard test resolution of 85Hz, this did not seem to disadvantage the Hansol in any way as the results speak for themselves. The Hansol 910A is listed as having a Maximum resolution of 1280 x 1024 with a refresh rate of 75Hz no great shakes really considering the price being offered. The OSD controls are located to the front and are easy to use having all the necessary functions required for everyday use.

In our Set-up Display section the 910A had problems with the Dark Screen test as we could clearly see images in the background, and did fail our test. We encountered problems with our Background Interference test but with a few adjustments it did pass the test, otherwise the 910A was particularly good in our Colour Scales test which checked for colour intensity. In the Geometry and Distortion section the monitor did not display any obvious signs of problems and passed with relative ease. The monitor had a slight problem in the Screen Regulation test, which it just failed with the same symptoms as the Acer and ADI. In our Sharpness and Resolution section the 910A did have problems with Moiré but with adjustments we were able to get a reasonable result to pass the test, other than that it passed with relative ease. In the Colour and Greyscale section the 910A proved it was not a flash in the pan, and no comprise was made in the image department by passing all the tests.

The Hansol 910A is manufactured with the value user in mind, and has been pitched to compete with the best value 17" Monitors, why buy a 17" when you can buy a 19" for the same price? an argument which clearly defines why the 910A monitor specifications are equal to that of a similar 17" monitor. The 910A stakes a strong claim for our Value for Money award, and one that must be on your shortlist if budget is your priority. Well done! Hansol for a grand entrance to the 19" market.
