We have taken the results we achieved with the AMD 1.2GHz processor and AMD 760 combination, and stacked it up against the ABIT KT7A - KT133A combination allowing readers a direct comparison, so as to enable a comparison of which solution had the best performance.

Mad Onion 3DMark 2000

3DMark 2000 is one of the best 3D performance diagnostic benchmark software currently available. To provide a comprehensive result we ran under two resolutions 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768 both in 16-bit colour.

A strange set of results, but what is clear is the impact VIA KT133A chipset has, over the AMD 760 chipset, even though the memory solution in the VIA KT133A is based on SDRAM, it does not hold it back in any way. In the 800 x 600 test the ABIT KT7A pips the AMD solution to the post, by a whisker. There really is not much in it, and as far as testing goes although there has to be a winner and a loser, this really does not reflect, as the 1024 x 768 test clearly reflects this, the AMD solution nips ahead by a small number of Marks. We would have anticipated the DDR solution in the AMD to trounce the SDR solution, but that clearly is not the case. So there you have it, as far as 3D is concerned there is no conclusive winner - stalemate!

BAPCO - SYSmark 2000

SYSmark 2000 is an application-based benchmark that reflects today's leading edge software applications for Internet Content Creation and Office Productivity.

SYSmark 2000 for once paints the same picture as that of the 3DMark 2000 again the margin between the two is very little, although as mentioned earlier we would have expected the AMD solution to have won comfortably, instead it actually loses by a whisker. It is good for those of us who require upgrading based on the SDRAM solution, as there still seems to be life in the old dog!

ZIFF DAVIS - Content Creation Winstone 2000

Winstone 2000 is similar to SYSmark 2000 and is used by us a comparison to the SYSmark 2000 benchmarks.

We really did not expect the Winstone 2000 scores to be all that different from the SYSmark 2000, although stranger things have happened in the past. The KT7A-RAID VIA KT133A solution continues to flex its muscles and wins by a head with 46.9 marks.
