Our verdict

ABIT continues to dominate its hold on the performance platform with the refined KT7A-RAID motherboard, with vengeance. The board has very few refinements, but you can be reassured if ABIT can find a way of adding more features it will. They have done exactly that with the allowance of frequency setting of PC133 memory to gain that little extra performance and stability that would have otherwise been overlooked by other manufacturers. The supporting components have to follow a stringently laid down specification to ensure stability and compatibility is sustained, otherwise problems do and can occur. ABIT's continued inclusion of the Highpoint HPT370 controller supporting ATA/100 and RAID 0,1 as standard, and the truly jumperless solution providing settings for FSB and Voltage using ABIT's splendid SOFTMENU III technology makes this motherboard the one to follow. The ABIT KT7A-RAID is highly recommended by us as a motherboard with a difference. As much as one tries not to hand out awards too easily, there are some products that come into our labs, that scream awards from the time they are removed from their packaging. ABIT's KT7A-RAID falls firmly into this category, and strolls away with our excellence award. Well Done ABIT.
