Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 710

Mitsubishi have managed to carve out a very good reputation for themselves in the Monitor market at the moment, mainly with good results for their 19" monitor range which have proved to good quality and value and emphasised in the 17" market by the Diamond Pro 710.

The Diamond Pro is a Aperture grille 0.25mm pitch monitor based on Mitsubishi's own tube. It will display resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 although only at 60Hz which would give eyestrain after any prolonged use, but any refresh rate would give eyestrain running a 17" monitor at 1600x1200 resolution because the icons are just too small to be practical.

The Diamond Pro excelled itself in our testing, cruising through every test and being the only monitor to do so. Things like the coated black screen were especially noticeable when it comes to reducing the amount of reflection and is on par with the Sony G200 quality wise.

The on-screen display is not quite as comprehensive as some, but all the main options are there to get the picture exactly how you want it on the screen. The controls are very accessible though and nowhere near as cumbersome as the G200, which would encourage you to correct the image under every resolution you use.

The monitor we received was Mitsubishi evaluation model and you could tell it had done the rounds a little bit just from the outside of the box. It was a testament to Mitsubishi's design and build quality that the monitor itself was in pristine condition and looked and felt like this was the first time it was being used. It really is good to know that the monitor isn't going to start falling apart after you've had it for a while although the 710 is backed by a three year onsite warranty.

There has been some cost cutting on the Mitsubishi that allows them to bring it down to such a great price. Mitsubishi have been very intelligent about it though and kept all the features that you could possible want in normal use and just foregone the luxury items such as the slightly smaller grille pitch and things like the higher refresh rates at the unusable resolutions.

The price and the overall quality of the monitor really is quite superb when all things are considered together. It is a worthy winner of our excellence award.

One2surf Award Winner !! Congratulations to Mitsubishi on winning one of the first ever One2surf awards !!
