INTEL D815EEA Motherboard
Introduction
The D815EEA motherboard we received came in to us as a Boxed product, which has certain advantages, from a end user point of
view supplied with a decent user manual and all the drivers required for the board all on one compact CD ROM disk and a sticky
backed label with a motherboard diagram listing all the main components. That's just half the story of purchasing a boxed
product the one that really matters is the 3 year limited warranty from Intel, should the board fail Intel will repair the
product by means of hardware and/or software, or replace the board with another if however they are unable to repair or
replace then you get a refund of the then current value of the product. This currently is by far the best warranty offered by
any manufacturer that we are aware of, and we are sure it is fair to assume Intel is keen to sell its branded boxed products.
The board supports a 133MHz Front side bus (FSB) and provides support for all Intel Pentium III and Celeron processors. This
will be handy when the new Celeron 100MHz FSB processors are launched later this year, although we have to say Intel does have
stiff competition from the AMD Duron range for the value end of the market. As far as integration goes this is a fine offering
from Intel, with onboard video, audio, 10/100Mbit onboard LAN, and a host of other features, which we shall be discussing in
more detail in our features section. What really sets this motherboard apart from others is Intel's Express BIOS Update utility,
which eases the pain of upgrading the BIOS without the need of a floppy disk or other media. A quick download of the BIOS run
the executable file, follow the instructions on the screen, and after a safe reboot your BIOS is upgraded. Intel also provides
an on-line instruction set for the faint hearted amongst us in Adobe Acrobat file format as a download. Another feature, which
has been a long time coming, is the Intel Rapid BIOS Boot, which speeds up the Power On Self Test (POST), enabling the system
for operation much quicker.

How we carried out our tests
Our objective was to test the performance, implementation, stability, and compatibility of the D815EEA Motherboard. To achieve
our objective, we used 3DMARK 2000, Content Creation Winstone 2000 and BAPCo's SYSmark 2000.
