Introduction

Despite intense pressure from its customers and the press, at IDF last month, Intel failed to update the industry on its desktop processor, chip set and memory roadmap. Though much of the key information about future P4 class processors and chip sets became available through independent sources prior to IDF, Intel did little to clarify its plans.

With nagging concerns about pricing strategies, competitive positioning and about P4 performance, the market was left to speculate about the veracity of Intel's position. Beyond just the P4, Intel also avoided any issues pertaining to its future P3 roadmap, leaving wide open the obvious information gaps about Almador and Tualatin.

Our goal is to fill in as many of the information gaps as possible concerning Intel's desktop product roadmap.
