Almost immediately you turn on the system the first thing you notice is the whirling of fans incorporated within the system unit, the system is not as quite as we would have hoped, but then Panrix has taken air circulation very seriously, a fan located at the bottom front side of the unit sucks the air in and then without any obstruction in the middle region blows the hot air out of the gigantic fan located at the back of the system unit, and to ensure the processor stays cool, a heatsink/fan combination keeps it cool. There is no doubt the cooler the system remains the greater the chance of improved system performance, and stability, and hence the reason of Panrix's choice of case and fans. In terms of looks well this really is a personal choice, we liked it, but the choice of Keyboard is one not to our preference, an Internet affair manufactured by Ceratech and is an Accuratus ACK-211W with a soft but responsive key touch, this is combined with one of the finest rodents currently on offer the stylish optical Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer which is easy to use and is very responsive. Once started, you are presented with the familiar Windows Me screen, the resolution is set at 1024 x 768 - 85Hz this is ideal for the monitor supplied. The system from boot up to the Windows Me Desktop is quick, one of the improvements Microsoft has built into Me. Although Windows Me was loaded, the actual recovery disk and the media was not supplied to us, due to a shortage, but Panrix assured us this is included with the system and will be supplied within the price quoted.

Access inside the case is via a side panel by unscrewing two knurled screws (finger friendly), and releasing the keylock with the keys provided, once inside the case the cables are neatly tied out of the way to allow access to everything so nothing is obscured. There is a lot of room inside for extra components with spare 3 x PCI slots, so the Panrix is about as future proof as you can expect from any PC these days.
