Panrix Magnum 1.1G System
Features Panrix's Midi-Tower case can be perceived as intimidating being a little on the large side as midi-tower cases go, but this is not a negative, particularly for the professional PC user in terms of access. You immediately appreciate as to why Panrix has elected to use this design of case as soon as you remove the covers to take a peak inside. Its sheer elegance has ample room to fit the leaning tower of piza, allowing any future upgrades to be carried out with ease. Panrix makes a definite statement with its case of locking in your future investment, and not having to worry about changing your case should you need to upgrade. There are too many system integrators out there that think they know how to build a system, but fail miserably for the lack of attention to detail. Three 5.25" bays are supplied two of which house the PlexWriter 12/10/32A CD-RW by Plextor and the Toshiba supplied SD-M1402 DVD drive, leaving a spare 5.25" bay, below these are the four 3.5" bays of which two are hidden of which one carries our labs current flavour of the month the IBM Deskstar 61.4GB DTLA 307060 ATA/100 hard disk drive and the two exposed bays of which one has the 3.5" (1.44Mb) floppy disk drive. The high quality list of components continues with the choice of motherboard, namely the ASUS A7V based on the popular VIA KT133 chipset solution, supporting a 200MHz FSB and the Promise ATA/100 controller onboard, and at the heart of the motherboard beats the powerful AMD 1.1GHz processor complete with a gigantic heatsink/fan combination for cooling the processor, supported by 128MB PC133 SDRAM manufactured by Micron. The Video and Monitor combination is breathtaking; Hercules 3D Prophet II GTS 32MB DDR AGP Video card feeds to the Hansol B19BL .26mm DP, 19" Monitor, which had no problems dealing with our 1024 x 768 @ 85Hz test resolution, the monitor does support a resolution of 1600 x 1200 but only @ a refresh rate of 60Hz, our advise would be not to run the monitor at that resolution, as a premature visit to your optician will soon become a reality. An internal Diamond Supraexpress 56i V Pro modem with V90 will, more than meet your communication needs; the sound combination is by Creative in the form of a Sound Blaster Live! 1024 and the popular PC Works FPS Four speakers surround for an adequate output for audio and games playing. Ms Works Suite 2000 includes the popular Word 2000; the operating system is the new Windows Me, and a host of games completes the software bundle. |
